PULASKI, Tenn. (August 13, 2026) – Southern Tennessee Regional Health System (STRHS) Pulaski joined community partners Thursday, August 13, to dedicate a new Blessing Box located along the drive leading to the hospital’s front lobby. The box will provide patients, families and community members with convenient access to food, personal-care products and other everyday necessities.

The Blessing Box was generously donated by Bo’s Blessings, and will receive continued maintenance and support from Giles Blessing Boxes. During the dedication, attendees heard from Ashley Hagan, executive director of Bo’s Blessings, who shared the organization’s mission and vision for helping neighbors experiencing times of need.

The project holds special meaning for Hagan, who began her healthcare career at STRHS Pulaski. Although Bo’s Blessings is based in Lawrence County and has repaired, replaced and installed Blessing Boxes throughout that community, the box at STRHS Pulaski is the organization’s first placement in Giles County.

“This Blessing Box is another way we can support the health and well-being of those we serve,” said Keeli Allen, Markeing & Communications Director at STRHS Pulaski. “Access to food and other basic necessities can have a meaningful impact on a person’s overall health. We are grateful to Bo’s Blessings and Giles Blessing Boxes for helping us provide this resource for our patients, their families and the Giles County community.”

Caron Perkins of the Giles Blessing Boxes group also spoke during the dedication and shared how local volunteers are working together to address food insecurity needs across the county. The group has more than 360 members who help stock approximately 15 Blessing Boxes throughout Giles County, making an important difference for individuals and families in the community.

The new box at STRHS Pulaski operates on a simple principle: leave what you can and take what you need. Community members and hospital employees are encouraged to help keep it stocked with unopened, shelf-stable and practical items.

Helpful donations include canned vegetables, fruit, beans and soup; peanut butter; pasta, rice and boxed meals; cereal and oatmeal; granola bars and packaged snacks; shelf-stable milk and juice boxes; and easy-open foods. Personal-care and household necessities such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, diapers, wipes, toilet paper, laundry detergent and dish soap are also welcome.

Donors are asked to check expiration dates and avoid placing homemade, opened, refrigerated or frozen foods in the box.

Through this partnership, STRHS Pulaski is extending its mission of Making Communities Healthier beyond the care provided inside the hospital. The Blessing Box represents the difference that can be made when local organizations, healthcare providers and neighbors work together to care for the whole community.
