PULASKI, Tenn. — Southern Tennessee Regional Health System–Pulaski recently received a generous donation of nonperishable food items from Bo's Blessings, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to serving others through faith and compassion. The donated food will help support patients experiencing food insecurity as they transition home from the hospital.
The food items will be distributed to patients identified by hospital staff as having immediate nutritional needs, with a special focus on individuals being discharged from the hospital's Medical Detox program and patients who come through the Emergency Department experiencing food insecurity. By providing access to food during a critical time, the donation helps address an important social need that can impact a patient's recovery and overall well-being.
"At Southern Tennessee Regional Health System–Pulaski, we recognize that healing extends beyond the care our patients receive inside the hospital," said Keeli Allen, Director of Marketing & Communications. "Having access to food is a basic need that many of our patients struggle to meet. We are incredibly grateful to Bo's Blessings for their generosity and compassion. This donation will allow us to provide immediate support to patients who need it most as they begin their recovery."
Guided by their faith in God and the memory of 6-year-old Bo-Austyn Yocom, Bo's Blessings serves communities by providing access to food through blessing boxes and other outreach efforts, demonstrating God's love through service while fostering love, kindness, and generosity.
The ministry was inspired by Bo's love of filling local blessing boxes with his mother, Ashley Hagan. Following Bo's tragic passing, his family and friends established Bo's Blessings to continue his legacy of serving others and sharing the love of Jesus through acts of kindness. Today, the organization continues that mission through blessing boxes, food drives, and community outreach efforts that provide hope and nourishment to neighbors in need.
"We're thankful for community partners like Bo's Blessings who understand that meeting basic needs can have a meaningful impact on a person's health and recovery," Allen said. "Their generosity helps us care for the whole person, and we're honored to work alongside them to make a difference in the lives of our patients."
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System–Pulaski is committed to improving the health of the communities it serves by partnering with local organizations that address the social factors influencing health. Through collaborations like this, the hospital continues its mission of making communities healthier—one patient at a time.
