January 22, 2026

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Pulaski (STRHS Pulaski) has been honored with the Lifepoint Health Excellence in Lung Cancer Screening Community Awareness Award, recognizing its exceptional efforts and community impact in lung cancer screening throughout 2025.

This award is presented to one hospital per Lifepoint Health division and recognizes the facility that made the greatest impact in raising awareness and increasing access to lung cancer screening. STRHS Pulaski was selected for its outstanding commitment to early detection and community outreach.

Over the past five years, STRHS Pulaski has achieved a 243% increase in lung cancer screenings—a significant milestone that reflects both strategic outreach and strong collaboration across care teams.

“Most importantly, this growth means more people reached earlier—and more lives with a better chance at timely care,” said Amie Mendez, Healthy Person Program Director for Lifepoint Health. Early detection is critical in lung cancer outcomes, and this recognition reflects STRHS Pulaski's commitment to meeting patients where they are and ensuring they have access to life-saving screenings.

This achievement represents a true team effort, made possible through collaboration across multiple departments. From outreach specialists and referring primary care providers to specialist partners, the emergency department, marketing team, and especially the imaging department, each played a vital role in increasing awareness and access to screening services.

STRHS Pulaski remains committed to improving community health outcomes through prevention, early detection, and coordinated care—ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time, close to home.
