Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Pulaski (STRHS Pulaski) announced today that it is adding an exception to the zero-visitor protocol to allow a visitor/support person to be with same day surgery patients as the hospital gradually resumes elective and non-urgent cases and services at its facilities. 

“Our hospital’s top priority is safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our patients, providers, employees and community,” said Jim Edmondson, chief executive officer (CEO) of STRHS Pulaski. “We continue to monitor closely the prevalence of the virus in our community as we adapt our operations to safely care for and support our patients, and we feel confident that it is safe to have a visitor/support person accompany a same day surgery patient.”

As part of the updated visitor restrictions, the same day surgery visitor/support person must meet requirements such as being COVID 19 screened upon arrival, wear a mask, required to stay in the patient’s room until the patient is ready for discharge and understand that if they leave they will not be permitted to re-enter the building, and there is no smoking.

While a same day surgery visitor/support person is in the patient’s room they will receive snacks, have free guest Wi-Fi, television, and it is suggested they bring reading material, iPad, Smartphone, and any additional snack they would want to pass time.
